Value Added - short version

(1) A customer-based perspective on quality that is used by services, manufacturing, and public sector organizations. The concept of value-added involves a subjective assessment of the efficacy of every step in the process for the customer. OR a term used to describe activities that transform input into a customer (internal or external) usable output.

(2) A necessary function, activity, or step in a process.
