Shell Moulding - short version

Shell moulding is a process where sand is coated with a thermosetting plastic resin, this is dropped on to a heater metal pattern which cures the resin. The shell segments are stripped from the pattern and assembled. Molten metal is than poured into this mould, once solidified the shell is broken away from the casting.
