A liquid or powder used to prevent sticking of a moulded (or cured ) component in the tooling cavity or on the tooling surface. Application and inspection of properly laid mould release is very important. Experience has shown that improper application of mould release can cause damage to both the component and the tool surface. Sometimes a mould-release film is also used, which is supposed to have a higher retention temperature than the temperature at which the component is cured. The mould release cloth can also be bonded permanently to the tool surface (common for advanced composites).
