Lean Six Sigma - short version

The blend of two root methodologies into one approach that optimizes the quality, speed, and cost of doing business.

Lean Six Sigma - long version

In recent years, some practitioners have combined Six Sigma ideas with lean manufacturing to yield a methodology named Lean Six Sigma. Lean manufacturing – addressing process flow and waste issues – and Six Sigma, with its focus on variation and design, are viewed as complementary disciplines in Lean Six Sigma, aimed at promoting "business and operational excellence". This is used in companies to focus transformation efforts not just on efficiency but also on growth. It serves as a foundation for innovation throughout the organization, from manufacturing and software development to sales and service delivery functions.
