Gel point - short version

The stage at which a liquid (resin) begins to exhibit pseudo-elastic properties. This stage maybe conveniently observed from the inflection point on a viscosity time plot. In practice, this parameter (particularly for advanced composites) is monitored on a control laminate inside the autoclave, and the curing temperature and the time of pressure application is exactly achieved to get the maximum properties from the laminate as well as a quality-assured laminate.
